Saudi Arabia: A Total of 21 Million Are Fully Vaccinated

Jeddah - Asma al-GhabriThe number of COVID-19 vaccine doses that have been administered in Saudi Arabia at 587 centers has reached 45,700,000 doses. A total of 24,200,000 have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine (68.4 percent) and more than 21,000,000 people have so far received the second dose (more than 60.7 percent). Saudi Health Ministry spokesman Dr. Mohammed Abdelali stated at a press conference on Sunday that it is important to receive the booster dose for those who have received both shots. The booster is currently available to all those who have received the two doses, at least six months after full vaccination, he added. The Ministry of Interior spokesman, Lt. Col. Talal Al-Shalhoub, stressed that the use of the national ID to travel remains suspended. The Ministry announced that it has started issuing institutional quarantine premises licenses for unvaccinated workers from the countries that are not facing a travel ban. Shalhoub said that during the past week, 742 violations of the precautionary and preventive measures against the coronavirus were detected. In the same press conference, Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing spokesman Saif Al-Suwailem confirmed that wearing masks in closed areas and checking the health status of people are still mandatory. In the same context, 46 new coronavirus cases were recorded over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 548,617, including 61 in critical condition. A total of 36 recoveries and one death have been recorded, bringing them to 537,570 and 8,794 respectively.
