Sabah, Bagheri Discuss Kuwaiti-Iranian Ties
Gulf
Kuwait - Asharq Al-AwsatKuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nasser al-Mohammad al-Sabah, received Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri upon the latter’s visit to Kuwait. The two officials discussed the bilateral ties and the means to develop them. They also touched on regional and international developments, according to Kuwait’s official news agency (KUNA). Bagheri had earlier met in the UAE with the Diplomatic Adviser to UAE President Anwar Gargash, and Emirati Minister of State Khalifa Shaheen Almarar. His visit to the Gulf countries comes days after assuming office as Iran's top nuclear negotiator. This is his first participation as deputy foreign minister. Last week, the US and GCC accused Iran of causing a “nuclear crisis” and destabilizing the Middle East with ballistic missiles and drones. The US and GCC member states agreed that Iran has taken “steps for which it has no civilian need, but that would be important to a nuclear weapons program”. All participants urged the new Iranian administration to “seize the diplomatic opportunity” in order to avoid a conflict and crisis.
