Syrians in Idlib Commemorate Uprising

For the third consecutive day, hundreds of residents and displaced Syrians took part in demonstrations in Idlib city, commemorating the tenth anniversary of the Syrian revolution. The demonstrators chanted anti-regime slogans. “I attended the protest to show the world and particularly the regime’s allies, that we will hold onto our revolution until we achieve its goals, mainly to topple the regime and regain our freedom in a new democratic Syria away from the rule of the Assad family and its regime,” said Mohammed Freije, a political activist. Activist Hameed Al-Aref said: “We organized demonstrations in the cities of Idlib, Sarmada, Jisr al-Shaghour and al-Dana where tens of thousands of Syrians attended.” Displaced Syrians from different provinces have attended the protests, chanting anti-regime slogans and expressing their support to the revolution. “We also prepared banners with slogans that condemn the criminal acts committed by the Syrian regime in the past 10 years. We demand the international community to put an end to such actions and to punish the perpetrators,” Aref said. Demonstrations in the north of Syria also called for justice, the rule of law and the establishment of a state that respects the rights of the Syrian people. Activist Nasr Mohaymid said that more than 60 massive protests were held this week in several regions of north Syria. A resident from the city of Homs, Molhim al-Zoghbi said, “Despite being displaced to the city of al-Bab in north Syria, we hold onto our uprising against the regime of assassination, the regime of Assad.” Another displaced Syrian from Daraa governorate said he took to the streets to support other displaced Syrians in commemorating the 10th anniversary of the revolution. “We gathered here as Daraa residents to stress our attachment to the goals of the revolution,” Yasser Abu Zeid said. He condemned the crimes committed by the government and demanded the release of anti-regime hostages.
