The Saudi government reiterated on Tuesday the Kingdom’s condemnation of the terrorist Iran-backed Houthi militias’ ongoing efforts to target civilians and civilian locations in the Kingdoms. Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the cabinet meeting that was held virtually from Neom amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The Houthi attacks, many of which are aimed at vital facilities, not only target the Kingdom and its economic installations, but the backbone of the global economy and security of its exports and oil supplies, continued the government. It vowed that the Kingdom will take the necessary and deterrent measures to protect its people and vital installations to preserve global energy security, stability of supplies and trade and to also put an end to such attacks. These attacks, it remarked, are a reflection of Iran’s hegemony over the political and military decision-making power of the militias, which it is using to further its destructive agenda and harm regional and international security. They are also a reflection of the terrorist militias’ rejection of various political efforts aimed at ending the crisis in Yemen, the most recent of which was Saudi Arabia’s initiative that was declared last week. King Salman briefed the cabinet on the virtual talks he held last week with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi. The leaders underscored the strength of the ties that bind Saudi Arabia and Iraq. They also agreed to expand bilateral cooperation and intensify coordination on regional and international affairs. The cabinet was also briefed on the telephone call between Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, with Mauritania’s President ‏Mohamed Ould Ghazouani and the talks he held with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who had visited the Kingdom last week. The cabinet congratulated Crown Prince Mohammed on his unveiling of the Green Saudi and Middle East Initiatives that outline Saudi Arabia’s policies in protecting the earth and environment at home and in the region. It expressed its gratitude to Gulf and Middle Eastern states for expressing their readiness to cooperate with the Kingdom to ensure the success of the initiatives.
