The United Arab Emirates has launched tourist visas for Israeli citizens, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation announced Thursday. Emirates News Agency (WAM) said the ministry "announced the activation of tourist entry visas through airlines and travel and tourism offices for Israeli passport holders.” "The move falls within bilateral cooperation between the UAE and the State of Israel following the signing of the Abraham Accords and aims to facilitate travel to the UAE for the time being," WAM added. The UAE and Israel have already signed treaties on direct flights and visa-free travel, along with accords on investment protection, science and technology. The UAE Cabinet ratified on November 1 the agreement with Israel regarding the mutual exemption from entry visa requirements. Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan signed the Abraham Accords between the UAE and Israel on September 15, opening a new page of relations between the two countries.
