The new Yemen government was sworn in before President Hadi.

The new Yemeni government was sworn in in Riyadh on Saturday before President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi. The 24-member cabinet was unveiled last week as part of the Riyadh Agreement. Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik was reappointed to head the new cabinet, which includes five ministers from Yemen’s biggest political blocs, including the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Islah party, a statement from Hadi’s office said. Hadi stressed before the ministers that the government’s top priority should be improving the economy, halting the decline of the local currency and boosting revenues. He underscored the need for the government to remain united and act according to one agenda and one goal to meet the aspirations of the people. The government will pave the way for a new phase in Yemen, put the past behind it and look to the future, he added. “This is the only way forward and you have nothing but success and achievements ahead of you,” Hadi told the ministers, underlining his support to the government. The president also expressed his appreciation to the support from Saudi Arabia in helping Yemen tackle its economic crisis and the Saudi-led Arab coalition for helping ensure the successful implementation of the Riyadh Agreement. “We will invest in every opportunity for sustainable peace, which is what our people dream of,” he vowed. “We will work on restoring trust in state institutions and we will continue to confront the Iran-backed Houthi coup.”
