Oman to Reopen Borders on December 29

Oman will reopen its land, air and sea borders as of Tuesday December 29, a government Twitter account said on Sunday. A negative COVID-19 polymerase test within 72 hours of entry is required for people from all countries and another test will be taken by those arriving from abroad at any of Oman's airports, it said. This came as the sultanate registered 182 new COVID-19 cases and 4 deaths in the past 72 hours. The new cases raised the total number of infections in Oman to 128,472 including 120,976 recoveries and 1495 deaths, according to the Health Ministry. The Ministry called on all citizens to adhere to social distancing instructions issued by the Supreme Committee. In a related context, Oman has launched its COVID-19 inoculation campaign, with the sultanate´s health minister receiving the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine on Sunday. The Health Ministry said the initial phase of the vaccination campaign would cover 20% of the population due to temporarily limited supply.
