Libyan Parliament Discusses Passing a Confidence on Government

Cairo – Libyan Parliament is set to convene next week in another attempt, to decide on passing a confidence on the UN-Backed Government of National Accord head by Fayiz al-Sarraj.


Members of parliament told Asharq Al-Awsat they received formal invitation from Speaker Saleh Akila for a parliamentary session on Monday and Tuesday. Yet, they doubted that the quorum will be met amid disputes between the parliament and Sarraj, and between military leaders.


EU Foreign Affairs Chief Federica Mogherini declared she had a meeting with Foreign Ministers of Chad, Niger, and Libya concerning the cooperation between the three countries and means to better secure borders.


In a statement issued, Mogherini said there is common interest to face terrorism, human trafficking, illegal immigration and immigrants smuggling. She considered that the security of Chad, Niger, and Libya is linked to that of the European Union.


Operation Solid Structure Media Bureau said the forces clashed with ISIS fighters in city of Sirte, inflicted the group massive losses. The media bureau added that Misrata central hospital received ten injured following the clashes.


Media Bureau pointed that Solid Structure forces captured ISIS weapons warehouse following confrontations with the group, while advancing inside Sirte.


Last week, Governmental Forces had advanced in Sirte recapturing vital facilities in the city. Yet, ISIS fighters are counter-attacking slowing down forces. Since last Sunday, ISIS fighters executed eight terrorist attacks against security forces.


Operation Solid Structure is backed by western countries that support the Government of National Accord. Members of Operation Solid Structure include groups from several towns in western Libya.
