Morocco Says it Vaccinated Over 10 Million With 1st Dose

Rabat - Asharq Al-AwsatA total of 10,028,791 people have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine in Morocco, while the number of fully vaccinated people has reached 9,140,785, the Ministry of Health said Thursday. Morocco recorded, in the past 24 hours, 789 new cases of the novel coronavirus, bringing the total number of infections to 532,150. The Ministry indicated, in a statement, that it recorded two deaths, bringing the total number of fatalities to 9,298, while the number of recoveries rose to 518,101. The recovery rate reached 97.4 percent. As for the geographical distribution of the new cases identified in Morocco in the last 24 hours, it is the region of Casablanca-Settat, which comes first with 356 cases. The second in the ranking is the Marrakech-Safi region, which has 108 infections. Rabat-Sale-Kenitra exceeded hundred cases with 102 new infections, followed by the region of Souss-Massa which recorded 78 cases, and 41 cases for the Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma region. Fes-Meknes recorded 28 infections, while 24 cases were detected in Laayoune-Es Sakia El Hamra. Similar results appeared in the regions of Draa-Tafilalt and Guelmim-Oued Noun, which recorded respectively 13 and 12 cases. Regions that recorded the least cases are the Oriental with 11 infections, Dakhla-Oued Eddahab with nine infections, and Beni Mellal-Khénifra with seven cases. The number of active cases reached 4,751 including 230 in a critical condition, the ministry added.
