The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States and the US Special Envoy for Yemen meet in Riyadh. GCC

Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf met in Riyadh on Thursday with the US Special Envoy for Yemen, Tim Lenderking. During the meeting, they reviewed the latest developments in Yemen. The GCC Secretary General appreciated the US position of calling for an immediate cessation of attacks by Yemen’s Houthis on Marib, which exacerbates the humanitarian crisis. The two sides condemned in the strongest terms the Houthi militias' continued targeting of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with ballistic missiles and explosive drones, which represent a flagrant violation of international law and a threat to the security and stability of the region. They also stressed the need to immediately halt the Houthi military escalation on various fronts, and stop its crimes against civilians and the displaced. The two sides urged the insurgents to respond to the Saudi ceasefire initiative, engage in the peace process and give priority to the interests of Yemen and Yemenis.
