The “Nautical Defender 21” exercise between Royal Saudi Naval Forces and the United States Navy aims at supporting regional stability, the US Central Command said. It’s “a bilateral maritime exercise between the US Navy and the Royal Saudi Naval Forces East Fleet designed to build and sustain warfighting capabilities and support long term regional security,” it said on Twitter Friday. The exercise kicked off on Thursday at King Abdulaziz Naval Base (KANB) at the Eastern Fleet in Jubail. The two-week drill in Gulf waters aims to raise combat readiness and expand maritime security cooperation between the two forces, by strengthening maritime security, ensuring protection of territorial waters and exchanging combat experiences.
