The novel coronavirus outbreak has opened the door for new Saudi literary releases and publications that would be displayed in libraries inside the Kingdom and abroad. The Saudi Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission overseen by the Ministry of Culture, recently issued two new story collections written by a number of Saudi writers. The new release was made in cooperation with the Ministry of Health to help quarantined people benefit from their free time in reading special books. The two collections include a number of short stories written by local authors from different generations. The first dubbed "Saudi Stories" features 10 short stories created in 2018. The second dubbed "The Stories of a Saudi Village" features short stories inspired by the Saudi countryside. The two collections were published in a simple design in order to offer the best reading experience for people who might be interested in new releases during the lockdown. This step is one of many cultural initiatives launched by the Culture Ministry during the pandemic as part of the "Culture during Lockdown" plan aimed at offering talented writers the chance to share their creativity.
