Jamaat e Islami Pakistan: Saudi Arabia Is Center of Islamic World

London- Director of Foreign Affairs for Jamaat e Islami Pakistan Sheikh Abdul Ghaffar Aziz, in an interview with Asharq al-Awsat newspaper, described Saudi Arabia as the center of the Islamic world and a vital country in the region.

On the sidelines of his participation in a conference on Jerusalem in Turkey, Aziz said that Saudi-Pakistani relations have always been unique and hoped they would be further reinforced.

“The map of the new Middle East is now uncovered and we see that the bloodletting in the Arab world is tightly connected to the wicked plan promoted by Iran. We wish that Saudi Arabia be a point of intersection among all Muslim nations,” he added.

Asharq al-Awsat asked, “How do you evaluate the situation in Kashmir?”

“It’s a tragedy there. Embargo has been imposed since more than 100 days… India, on the other hand, is using the most lethal arms, killing more than 200 people,” Aziz replied.

Commenting on his participation in the conference on Jerusalem in Turkey, Aziz said that during the conference he stated, “Al-Aqsa is always on top of the nation cases but what is painful is that the whole nation is bleeding”.

Speaking of the aggravating situation in Bangladesh, he did not separate the current situation there from the Middle East developments and the Indian expansion plans. “People in Bangladesh now say that the official resolutions are being issued in New Delhi and signed in Dhaka,” Aziz said.

Asharq al-Awsat asked, “From your own point of view, do you see any resolution for the Brotherhood dilemma in Egypt?”

“Every crisis has a resolution. If Egyptians were granted their primary rights and everyone committed to their roles and specialties, there will be no more crises.”

The newspaper asked, “It has been 15 years since the U.S. raged the war on terrorism against Taliban in Afghanistan. However, violent attacks are killing thousands of innocent victims every year, how would you comment over this?”

“It is known that Afghanistan is the graveyard of tyrants and empires… The U.S. seems not to learn from precedents and is now on a cross-road of either withdrawing or sticking to some military bases,” he said.

“How do you view the U.S. military intervention in Pakistan? Is it the result of Pakistani government weakness or does it fall under the cooperation between the two countries to eradicate al-Qaeda?” asked Asharq al-Awsat.

Aziz replied, “Pakistan and Islamic countries should be aware of foreign interferences and should reject them. The U.S. war on Afghanistan was of no benefit to Pakistan… We lost 60,000 innocent souls according to the U.S. reports while the Central Bank reported an economic loss of USD100 billion.”
