Gulf
London, Tehran – Asharq Al-Awsat
Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibazadeh described on Monday talks between Riyadh and Tehran as “optimal”. Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah had revealed on Sunday that the Kingdom and Iran have held four rounds of “exploratory” talks. Khatibazadeh said efforts are ongoing to establish sustainable ties with Riyadh in a way that pleases both sides. Moreover, he added that talks with Saudi Arabia are ongoing in Baghdad and they are tackling various files. The main focus is bilateral relations, as well as regional affairs, he continued. The spokesman denied reports that a Saudi delegation will travel to Iran to reopen its Kingdom’s embassy. Prince Faisal said the last round of talks with Iran was held on September 21, adding that they are “laying the foundation” for tackling pending issues between their countries.
