Hadi Attacks Houthis, Calls for Aborting Iranian Project in Yemen
Arab World
Aden – Ali RabeeYemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi launched a sharp attack on Houthi militias, calling on national forces in his country to unite to thwart Iran’s project in Yemen. He stressed the need to end “small differences” and speed up the implementation of the “Riyadh Agreement.” In a speech marking the September 26 Revolution, which ended Imamate rule in Yemen, Hadi said that Houthi militias had been exposed as an Iranian proxy and tool that wants to impose its rule with weapons instead of democracy and peaceful transition of authority. “We are well aware that the Houthi gang that made all this havoc is a dynastic and intellectual extension of the racist Imamate regime that was brought down by the glorious September revolution 59 years ago,” said Hadi. The president moved on to stress the need for national cohesion to uproot the insurgency. “Every voice against this group is ours, every hand that reaches out to resist the Houthi militias is ours, and every gun that defends the homeland against the tampering of these militias is ours,” affirmed Hadi. According to Hadi, malice shown by hateful Iran-backed Houthi militias should be a motive for unity and cohesion, forgetting differences, forgetting the past, and uniting forces to salvage Yemen’s social fabric, identity, culture, and state. The Yemeni president called on his country’s citizens “to stand with the state and support its efforts to normalize the situation and support the efforts of the government and local authorities.” He also called on the international and regional community to support the government politically and economically to enable it to perform its duties. Hadi stressed the need to complete the “national battle” and speed up the implementation of the Saudi-sponsored Riyadh Agreement, saying it guarantees that efforts are directed against Houthis and that the government provides services to Yemenis and alleviates the impact of the economic decline in the war-torn country. “The Riyadh Agreement formed a road map to unite the ranks, and it must be today before tomorrow as an important indicator that brings us all together on one level to confront the danger facing everyone,” said Hadi.
