Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet approved Tuesday merging the Public Pension Agency (PPA) into the General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) during a videoconference meeting chaired by King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the state-owned Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported. The Cabinet meeting also approved that the Royal Commission for AlUla joins the International Union for Conservation of Nature as an independent member, SPA said. Moreover, the meeting reviewed talks the Kingdom recently held with regional countries, especially discussions for boosting bilateral ties and backing international and regional efforts to lay the foundations of stability and security, overcome conflicts and resolve crises. This shows Saudi Arabia’s pioneering role in leadership and development in both the Arab and Muslim worlds. In the same light, Cabinet members reviewed the Saudi-sponsored peace declaration issued by senior scholars from both Islamabad and Kabul in Makkah. This initiative aims to pave the way towards settling the Afghan crisis through negotiations between warring parties and to reject all shapes and forms of violence and extremism. Ministers touched on the honor upheld by the Kingdom in terms of serving the Two Holy Mosques and protecting pilgrims performing Hajj and Umrah rituals. The Kingdom does so by ensuring a safe and healthy environment for pilgrims. In light of global developments brought about by the coronavirus pandemic, the Kingdom will implement needed regulatory controls, health standards, and security measures to ensure pilgrims’ safety for Hajj season 2021. The Cabinet also approved establishing an academy named Mahd Sports Academy, concerned with developing sports talents and providing juniors and youngsters with technical knowledge and methodologies to achieve national, regional, and continental sporting achievements.
