Dar Alca Publishes Arabic Translation of Aleksandr Dugin’s ‘Salvation from the West’
Book Reviews
London - Asharq Al-AwsatDar Alca for publishing and translation has recently published an Arabic translation of Aleksandr Dugin’s “Salvation from the West …Eurasia…Indigenous Civilizations versus Atlantic Civilizations.” Novelist Ali Badr, who translated the book, said in the introduction: “The writer promises the Eurasian cultural movement, which relies on a philosophic, political, anti-liberal theory that opposes the western regimes and Atlantic civilizations.” “Through a deep reading, the book highlights these regimes’ close collapse, which will lead to the historic imperative of the Eurasian victory. But as a philosophy, Eurasianism does not claim its globalism, or unipolarity, and does not impose itself on other civilizations, like liberalism did throughout the 20th and the early 21th centuries.” “Eurasianism has two perspectives: geopolitical, and ideological- political. From the geopolitical perspective, Eurasianism expands over the region extending from Europe to Asia, and includes four civilizations: the Russian, Chinese, Indian, and Iranian.” Based on this theory, the translator added: “Russians, Slavs, Romans, Greeks, Chinese, Indians, and Muslims form a continental entity called Eurasia.” The same definition was also highlighted by philosopher Pyotr Yakovlevich Chaadayev in 1829, who said: “We don’t belong to any of the great families of humanity. We are not from the West, nor from the East, and we don’t have the tradition of this or that…We lean with one elbow on China, and with the other on Germany. We shall unite the two great principles of the smart nature.” On the other hand, philosopher Alexander Herzen said: “We are that part of Europe, which extends between America and Europe, and this satisfies us.”
