KSRelief Provides $10m to WHO to Fight COVID-19

Riyadh- Asharq Al-AwsatKing Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSRelief) signed on Monday in Riyadh an agreement with the World Health Organization (WHO) granting it $10 million in financial support for urgent action needed to minimize the spread of COVID-19. The support has been announced in response to an urgent appeal from WHO and under the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The agreement was signed by Assistant Supervisor General of the Center for Operations and Programs Eng. Ahmed al-Bayez and WHO Representative in the Kingdom Dr. Ibrahim al-Zeeq. The WHO representative expressed, in a press statement after the signing, his thanks and gratitude to the Kingdom represented by KSrelief for supporting humanitarian works in general, and for its generous and continuous support to the organization. Zeeq said this step indicated the Kingdom’s keenness on human health, safety, and protection from epidemics and diseases. He added that the WHO will use these funds to purchase safety kits for health workers and laboratory equipment to support research on the virus. Advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of KSrelief Dr. Abdullah al-Rabeeah praised the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to combat the coronavirus. These directives embody the noble human role of the Kingdom and reflect its keenness to harness its potentials and resources in serving humanitarian issues, in full cooperation with the United Nations, its agencies, organizations and the international community for the interest of the humanity, he added.
