Saudi Arabia Vows Firm Response to Houthi Terrorism

Saudi Arabia stressed on Tuesday that it will firmly and strongly respond to all terrorist acts committed by the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen against innocent civilians and vital installations in the Kingdom that are threatening regional and international peace and security. The Foreign Ministry said the Kingdom was victim to several Houthi terrorist attacks, the latest taking place on Monday when the militias launched eight armed drones against it "with the deliberate aim to target civilians and civilian locations". The forces of the Saudi-led Arab coalition succeeded in thwarting the attack, it continued in a statement. The United Arab Emirates was also targeted on Monday by a "heinous Houthis attack that targeted economic facilities and Abu Dhabi International Airport," it remarked. The drone attack on Abu Dhabi set off explosions in three fuel trucks and causing a fire near Abu Dhabi airport, killing three people and injuring six. The Foreign Ministry reiterated its condemnation of "all hostile attacks against Saudi Arabia and the UAE that are being carried out by the forces of evil and terrorism." The Houthi militias "have spread chaos in Yemen and killed its brotherly people," it stated. "The militias have also continued to spread their terrorist acts with the aim of destabilizing the region." It added that "Saudi Arabia had offered several political initiatives to help reach a comprehensive political settlement to the Yemeni crisis, but the Houthis have maintained their stubborn stances and continue to carry out cowardly attacks against the Kingdom, the UAE and international shipping lanes. It accused the Houhis of also obstructing the delivery of humanitarian aid in Yemen thereby continuing their flagrant violation of all international laws and norms.
