Egypt, Russia Agree to Reinforcing Military Cooperation

Egypt, and Russia have agreed on boosting cooperation in the military and security fields. This decision was reached following Egyptian-Russian talks that tackled regional and international issues. The 7th meeting of the Egypt-Russia Joint Military Committee was held in Moscow. Egypt’s Defense Minister Mohamed Ahmed Zaki expressed the Egyptian Armed Forces’ aspiration to boost military cooperation between the armed forces of both countries. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu pointed out his country's desire to reinforce cooperation with Egypt, saying it's an important strategic ally in the Middle East. The two officials discussed the latest developments in the regional and international arenas. They also addressed several issues of common concern related to military cooperation and the exchange of technical expertise. Also, Egypt's defense minister and his Russian counterpart signed a military and security cooperation protocol.
