Saudi Arabia Raises Minimum Wages of 'Nitaqat' Employees

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Human Resource and Social Development (HRSD) issued a decree on Wednesday raising the minimum wages of Saudi employees. Minister Ahmed bin Suleiman Al-Rajhi made the announcement saying that the the minimum wages paid to Saudi citizens employed under the “Nitaqat” employment system was raised to SAR 4,000 from SAR 3,000. The decision includes Saudi students who reside in the kingdom and have a regular part-time job. Also included in the decree are permanently part-time employees and flexible work system workers, the ministry said through an official statement via Twitter. The decision shall come into effect in five months starting from 18 November 2020.
