Saudi Arabia Supports UNAOC with $1 Million Grant

Saudi Arabia has provided $1 million to the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) for supporting its work plan, activities and programs. The Kingdom's permanent representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdulaziz Al-Wasel, handed over the financial support to High UN High-Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations Miguel Angel Moratinos at UNAOC’s headquarters. Al-Wasel affirmed the Kingdom’s appreciation for the important role played by UNAOC and its efforts in disseminating a culture of peace and tolerance, and strengthening the role of diplomacy at a time when the world has an urgent need to consoldiate the values of coexistence, build bridges of communication and spread peace. The High UN High-Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations hailed the great role played by the Kingdom in laying the foundations for peace and the values of coexistence and the rejection of hatred and violence. He also commended the Kingdom's central role in promoting the values of peace and tolerance and respecting all religions and cultures.
