Egypt Sends Medical Aid to Lebanon
Arab World
Cairo - Asharq Al-AwsatEgypt announced it was sending medical and food aid to Lebanon. The ship left Damietta port on Friday at the orders of President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi. Presidency spokesman Nader Saad said the shipment is carrying 487.5 tons of aid, including 122 tons of foodstuff, 265.5 tons of medicines and medical supplies, and 100 tons of relief products. He added that the shipment was coordinated between the concerned ministries and state agencies and the Lebanese government to provide the needs of the brotherly Lebanese people. Egypt had earlier this month sent emergency relief aid to Lebanon. Nevin El-Kabbaj, Vice President of the Egyptian Red Crescent Society and Minister of Social Solidarity, had said the aid shipment was in line with the government's desire to rekindle the Arab spirit, the need to provide support to brotherly countries, especially in times of crises.
