New York’s MET Hosts First Disney Exhibition

New York - Asharq Al-AwsatThe Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York is hosting an exhibition that explores how the work and studio of Walt Disney (1901-1966) were inspired by the European decorative arts, reported the German news agency. According to the Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET), this is the first animation exhibition in the history of the museum, featuring classic watches, textiles, embroidered fabrics, and furniture. Met director Max Hollein said: “Disney’s animations and Rococo’s decorative arts are rich in funny stories, joy, and wonder.” Running until March 6, 2022, the exhibition “Inspiring Walt Disney: The Animation of French Decorative Arts,” features 150 Disney animations and productions works with over 60 pieces of European decorative art from the past centuries like furniture and teapots. The exhibition celebrates classics including Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Beauty and the Beast.
