Saudi Health Ministry: More than 230,000 Recovered from COVID-19

The Saudi Ministry of Health announced Thursday 1,629 new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus, bringing the Kingdom’s total to 274,219. There are 40,179 active COVID-19 cases receiving necessary medical care, it said in a statement. According to the ministry, 2,044 patients are in critical condition. Of the new cases, 137 were reported in Hufof, 114 in Riyadh, 66 in Dammam, 63 in Najran and 60 in Madinah. As many as 2,629 patients have recovered, bringing the total recoveries to 231,198, the ministry stated. It reported 26 new deaths, bringing the death toll from complications caused by COVID-19 in Saudi Arabia to 2,842. In a separate statement, the ministry announced that the health condition of pilgrims, while on Mount Arafat on peak day of Hajj, is reassuring. The ministry confirmed that an integrated system of health facilities is available throughout the sacred places to preserve the health and safety of pilgrims and the staff serving them, noting that the health plan is being executed as planned.
