Saudi MoI Further Develops Its Electronic Platform

Dubai – Mohammed al-Asiri, official Spokesperson of the National Information Center from the Saudi Ministry of Interior, announced that the center is planning to expand its services and facilitate attaining governmental e-services.

On the sidelines of GITEX Technology Week 2016 in Dubai, the spokesperson told Asharq Al-Awsat that the digital ID initiative is to be activated soon as part of the electronic services where the user enters a username, password and activation code to access Absher system.

He added that the system will continue to develop to include eight sectors of several ministries by the end of 2016.

Asiri also added that the digital ID will enable all sectors to provide services in a better way.

The 36th Gitex Technology Week opened in Dubai and is considered the largest information and communications technology (ICT) event in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia. The event ends on Oct. 20.

Across a space of over one million square feet, organizers expect over 100,000 visitors from 150 countries to take part, apart from 4,000 exhibiting companies and 230 speakers.

Asiri pointed out that Prince Mohammed bin Nayef supported the ministry and the center to provide better services for both citizens and residents, as part of Vision 2030.

The spokesperson hoped the center will be able to launch the new services soon, such as civil records and registration for marriage and divorce services. He added that the main concern of the MoI now is to provide all what is possible electronically through Absher.

Assiri explained that Absher is not the only service provider as there are many others, adding that any other platform is welcomed and supported by the ministry to host its services on Absher website.

During the opening ceremony of GITEX at the Dubai World Trade Centre, Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, said that UAE continues to be the gateway between East and the West, as seen by the large number of international participants at the 36th Gitex Technology Week (Gitex 2016).

Shiekh Hamdan further added that the large number of local participants reflects a change in the way of thinking, innovation and performance which will empower the UAE’s shift to smart government, enhance innovation in all sectors and help transform the UAE into the fastest growing and happiest country in the world.

Earlier, Saudi Ministry of Interior launched an interactive online platform dedicated to the Gitex which highlights the Ministry’s participation at the event as the Official Country Partner along with a showcase of the latest electronic services and smart solutions provided by the Ministry and its affiliates.
