Saudi-Jordanian Coordination Council Convenes in Riyadh

Riyadh-Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense met on Wednesday with Jordanian Prime Minister Hani Al-Mulki on the occasion of the holding of the first meeting of the Saudi-Jordanian Coordination Council.


The meeting saw the signing of a number of cooperation agreements in the various fields of development, investment, banking, industry and nuclear energy.


The two officials stressed strong bilateral relations and explored ways to further promote cooperation between the two Kingdoms.


In a joint statement, the two sides said the meeting comes as an “extension to the historical and strong relations binding the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, based on the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and his brother, King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.”


During the meeting, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding between the Public Investment Fund and the Authority of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone (AZESA) for the establishment of a development investment project in Aqaba, a convention for the avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income between the two countries.


Another memorandum of understanding was signed for industrial cooperation between the two countries, as well as an executive program for cooperation between the Saudi Broadcasting Corporation and Jordan Radio and Television Corporation.


The two sides agreed to work on the completion of other draft agreements, particularly in the fields of electricity, nuclear energy, mining, investment promotion and military cooperation.
