O’Brien Lauds KSRELIEF Humanitarian Efforts

Riyadh – The United Nations praised Saudi Arabia on Wednesday for the major efforts deployed in humanitarian relief, through the King Salman Humanitarian and Aid Relief Center (KSRELIEF).

Visiting U.N. Undersecretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Stephen O’Brien lauded the Kingdom’s “generosity toward those in the world that have the least.”

During a press conference held at the U.N. House Auditorium in the Diplomatic Quarter, O’Brien said that KSRELIEF has promoted Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian vision.

The U.N. humanitarian chief, who is visiting Saudi Arabia for the second time, said: “I would like to thank Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman as well as the Saudi government and the people for the warm welcome I received,” adding that he was pleased to meet key Saudi officials.

He also noted that talks during his meetings in Riyadh touched on the means of cooperation between the U.N. and Saudi Arabia, represented by KSRELIEF, to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid in Yemen’s besieged areas.

He also talked about his latest visit to Yemen and described the situation there as very bad.

O’Brien also expressed his appreciation for the strong and growing partnership between international humanitarian and relief agencies and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center in the region and other parts of the world.

“The establishment of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center in 2015 has been a continuation of the Kingdom’s philanthropy to the international community’s efforts to support people in need,” he said.
