U.S. Envoy: ISIS Move To Libya Facilitates Taking it Down

London- Brett McGurk, U.S. State Department official coordinating the effort against ISIS, said that ISIS organization’s leaderships leaving Iraq and Syria for Libya- crossing many borders through their trip- makes will it easier to monitor and take them down.

In an exclusive interview with Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper in London, McGurk said that the terrorist organization’s leaders have requested that all new recruits join formations located in Libya.

With Turkey stepping up supervision on borders, roving across ISIS dominated lands in Syria and Iraq consequentially became difficult, McGurk explained.

On the other hand, a U.S. official considered that ISIS’s call an indicator on the coalition’s operations proving successful in cutting down the organization’s fighting capacities. McGurk finally pointed out that the chance of ISIS militants leaving Syrian and Iraqi grounds has been minimalized.

In the ballpark, McGurk highlighted that a comprehensive war waged against ISIS requires direct tackling of the organization’s recruitment. ISIS’s approach when recruiting new members includes a carrot and stick play of visualizing a luxurious lifestyle provided by a so called Caliphate. Recruitment has also taken place through circulating video recordings exhibiting violence and heinous executions. The third approach on recruitment is based on spreading extremist ideology.

McGurk praised the role being played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia against terrorism. Saudi Arabia has centered its focus on rectifying spread understandings and confronted the ideological war waged by terrorists through the material they publish across social media outlets.
